Jom EAT! // Mozer's @ Plaza Damas

The experience was like travelling far away to the back alleys of any Mediterranean country, despite not being able to travel overseas in time of pandemic.

We have to admit that being grounded within closed borders of Malaysia for almost a year now has sometimes depressed us. We miss travelling, and the flavours we tasted on every trip we made. Okay, end of my mumble. My very point was our heart-melting discovery of Mozer's at Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas last week. Hooray!

Both indoors and al-fresco dining are available. The interior of Mozer's was rather attractive with an interesting feature wall full of photo frames and paintings. I like the cushioned long bench running under all the frames. The contrast of colours and shapes really does exude the passionate Mediterranean atmosphere. The outdoor dining area is surrounded by potted plants, making it a cooling zone for more pleasurable dining experience.

The menu was moderately planned - with authentic Syrian cuisine and a bit of other food items like pastas. We ordered 2 lunch sets (available Mon-Fri 11:30AM - 5PM) and mushroom pasta for Zyan. Waiting time was moderate but we couldn't complain because it was cosy and airy in the restaurant itself.

Grill Combo (RM17 nett)

(The set comes with fetush salad, shish kebab and shish tawook, ice or hot lemon tea)


Firstly, I'd apologise to this dish - it waited too long for us to sample. Everything on the plate was done right, but a little too dry - like I said it could have been better if we had it as soon as it was served. the grilled skewers, both kebab and tawook were spiced correctly, and grilled well. Our only complaint was really how dry it was, we couldn't undo time and justify it more accurately. Nevertheless, when we wrapped all ingredients on the plate into a flat bread roll, we were reminded to the gyros we used to have in Greece (of course, with tzatziki being substituted with toum, Lebanese garlic sauce). Not too much a wow in this dish, but then again, the fault could be ours.


Carbo Combo (RM17 nett)

The lamb was the absolute winner! Yes, I just have to mention it first, in much excitement. Personally, I enjoyed the pale-yellowish bazilla rice, fluffy and full of spiced aroma, it's tasty on its own. The lamb was succulently juicy, stewed to fork-tender. I believe even if you don't like the distinctive taste of lamb, this would change your mind (maybe for once). It really did melt in mouth! On the other hand, however, the chicken breast was really too dry. If it weren't for the sauces at the side, we wouldn't be able to chew down the whole piece of chicken breast.


- The fetush salad (fattoush salad) which came with the lunch sets was fresh and properly tossed in the right proportion of vinaigrette. -

Mushroom Pasta (RM14)

The Mushroom Pasta we ordered for Zyan was surprisingly tasty. It was done in Aglio Olio way, but we asked to odd out the chilli flakes. Since Zyan couldn't finish the whole portion, Billy and I happily helped him with the remaining pasta. Perfecto!

What do we think about Mozer's?

We would consider it as a great place for lunch, dinner and gathering. One of the better options in serving Mediterranean cuisine, the price was reasonably set, and the ambiance was cosy enough for informal occasions. We should come back one day to sample their à la carte menu.
