Jom DRINK! // Pastribella Bakeshop @ Tamarind Square, Cyberjaya

Updated: Jan 17

We only wanted a place for Zyan to sleep peacefully in the stroller, but ended up in love with their cake.

We were trying to take photos of Zyan in Tamarind Square last weekend. Alas, no luck for us because Zyan was asleep the whole time we were there. Of course, we aren't quick to give up, so we did try to let him sleep all he wanted, hoping it wouldn't be too late for him to wake up for the photoshoot. Since we had to wait anyhow, we decided to wait in style by choosing a café in Tamarind Square - with air-conditioning. That was how we stumbled upon Pastribella Bakeshop.

To be honest, we didn't bother to read reviews online but were merely attracted by its exterior. The seating outside the shop seemed so inviting with a sofa and several cushions and pillows on it, such a cosy corner.

QR code scanned, body temperature taken, form filled - Zyan was still sound asleep. Pastribella now applies e-menu. Customers should scan the QR code on every table to access their menu before placing an order with the friendly waiting staff. We browsed through the menu carefully - I'd say it's a moderate menu which I'd like to try if we didn't already have a dinner plan later on. The place was packed that afternoon, we didn't want to walk around to take photos - social distancing, everyone!

We ended up ordering a slice of Flourless Chocolate Almond Torte from the display side table, and Iced Americano. Yes, we needed to cool down from all the afternoon heat. The service was relatively fast.

Flourless Chocolate Almond Torte won our hearts. So rich and chocolaty - we almost forgot it's flourless! We are no big fans of almond, but this cake was such a delight we truly enjoyed. Along with the Iced Americano, it's perfect for a hot afternoon. Oh yes, Zyan was still sleeping 🤣

If we had to complain, it'd be the poor ventilation in the café. From where we were seated, we could smell the whatever the chef was cooking in the kitchen. We left the café with shirt and hair in the unpleasant smell. Still, it's a good place to spend some time at, when you're around in Tamarind Square.
