It's been around for a very, very long while. We've heard good remarks of it for some time. So, today is the day.
It is Wednesday today so it is a good day to venture out of Kuala Lumpur to hunt for good food in Ipoh. Ahem, there is actually no bad day to do so. Just that this Wednesday feels like weekend. We departed from Kuala Lumpur at 10:30am and arrived in Ipoh two hours later. My brother-in-law has been kind of eager to recommend this place to us. We have heard of good remarks about this stall from time to time, we are more than just happy.

This stall is named "Pokok Besar" because of its location underneath a huge tree. It has recently moved to its new location in a food court just right next to the previous location. The ordering system is very straightforward. There are trays of fried stuffed ingredients (a.k.a yong tau foo) displayed on the stall.
Customers can select what they want, put it in a small basket and at the end of the line, decide what type of noodles to go with the stuffed ingredients. We chose curry laksa.
Comparatively, the yong tau foo here are of bigger pieces. The specialty here is fried stuffed turnip. We haven't come across any other stall which serves stuffed turnip in KL. However, to be very honest, I find it a little bit too sweet - not something I would order again. Others were decent but not outstanding. For the expectation we had, the actual quality was rather underwhelming.
Surprisingly, the curry laksa that we ordered to go with the fried stuffs appeared to be the star! The curry was very rich and flavourful. We liked it.
Maybe it is just us, since taste can be very subjective. Have you tried this stall before? Let's share us your opinion. If you know anywhere serving awesome yong tau foo, kindly let us know too! After all, this is a good timing to discover the better side of Malaysia.
