It's weekend soon and you're craving for a relaxing and unwinding short getaway. This is your reward after a tedious and exhausting week at work. The good news? Awesome getaway doesn't always mean you have to break your bank or braving through crowds after crowds of tourists. It can be as laid back as you wish it would be, tucking away in the soothing breeze of nature, embracing the romanticism of the lesser-known spots and be caressed in the delightful arms of hidden gems away from the hustle and bustle of a city. Even better news? We have compiled a list of these astounding short getaways near Kuala Lumpur. What you need to do now is just to pack your bag and unveil these hidden gems.
1. The Dusun @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan
The Dusun is an 12-acre orchard resort 1 hour 15 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur. Tucked away at 800 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Titiwangsa Main Range, neighbouring Berembun Forest Reserve, 4,000 acres of protected virgin forest, you will not be surprised to see wild boar and deer near its vicinity. Most of the staff in The Dusun are from the Temuan (orang asli) villages nearby. They are very knowledgeable about the jungle and will not hesitate to share it with the visitors. There are six houses in The Dusun which visitors can choose from (of which one is under renovation), all of them are uniquely themed and constructed. Head over to The Dusun on one of the weekends and be mesmerised in this pristine ambience.

2. Fraser's Hill
Fraser’s Hill is a mountain village in Pahang. The fastest route one can take is from Kuala Kubu Bharu, a small, quaint town in Hulu Selangor District (We do recommend stopping by this small town for lunch or even to just experience the simple life of the residents here). Fraser's Hill is known for its highland rainforest and extensive birdlife. Over the years, this highland getaway has hosted many birdwatching events, including the annual Fraser's Hill International Bird Race. Not a birdwatcher? Fret not. There are several nature paths, including Pine Tree Trail and Bishop Trail, cross jungle terrain sheltering migratory birds like the Siberian thrush. The area also harbors Malayan tigers and rare trig oak trees. If you're looking for a nature retreat, look no further than Fraser's Hill.
