The National Zoo of Malaysia (Zoo Negara)

Zoo Negara Malaysia was firstly established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, Zoo Negara was officially opened in 1963. It covers 110 acres of land, and has gradually transformed itself to an open concept zoo - over 90% of its animals being kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature.

Taiping Zoo

Taiping Zoo is located in the natural setting in Taiping Lake Gardens. The abundance of flora around the streams and lakes gives the zoo a unique natural touch. The zoo covers an area of 36 acres and is undergoing an expansion programme to include the building of open concept animal enclosures. Besides, Taiping Night Safari is the first of its kind in Malaysia. It is a great place to see nocturnal animals in natural setting.

Night safari /

8PM - 11PM 8PM - 12AM (On Saturday nights and eve of Public Holidays)

Malacca Zoo

Malacca Zoo, which was established since 1963, has been privatised in the early 2013 renamed as Melaka Zoo and Night Safari. Covering an area of 54 acres, it is the second largest zoo in Malaysia and transforming to an open concept in animal exhibit. Malacca Zoo aims to be a recreational area, enhancing wildlife education and conservation programme. Night Safari will also give visitors a unique opportunity in watching the behaviour of nocturnal animals in their natural habitats.

8PM - 11PM (Fridays & Saturdays night, eve of public holidays and school holidays)

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Officially opened to the public in 2007, the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is located along the Penampang-Papar old road, about 25km from Kota Kinabalu.The park covers 280 acres, consisting two parts: the zoological and the botanical side. It is fully developed by the Sabah Wildlife Department. Lok Kawi Wildlife Park aims to create a family-oriented park to make it more like a children's zoo.


Opening Hours: 9;30AM - 5:30PM, Daily
