[Travel Diary] Europe 2018 | 10. Lisbon (Cacilhas - Cristo Rei)

This was our final day in Lisbon. We knew we'd miss this vibrant city so much.

And we definitely did not want to misuse any moment of it. We took a commuter ferry ride across Tagus to Cacilhas. The ferry service provides an enjoyable and inexpensive activity, with wonderful waterside views of the city.

At Cacilhas there are many excellent seafood restaurants, and these are much better value than Lisbon. Of course, it was still too early for another round of seafood feast! We found a breakfast joint at the very colourful town of Cacilhas, and ordered some sandwiches! The main reason for crossing to Cacilhas is to visit the Cristo Rei statue and the amazing viewpoint at the top of the monument. I must (strongly) recommend this route as the panoramic view of Alfama and the entire city of Lisbon from across the river would take your breath away! We ended our half day trip to Cacilhas with a reasonably-priced seafood lunch. Yums.

Ponte 25 de Abril

The second half of the day was very much like a mix-and-match of what we did not have enough time to do the previous day. We took a ride on the famous Tram 28, which passed by most of the tourist attractions. It's one of the best ways to glance through the city. We also stumbled upon Ascensor da Bica! Well, it's the cutest funicular tram we've ever seen! Ah, we totally cherished every moment of that evening.

Before we went back to the little apartment (to pack our luggage), we headed for Time Out Market, a spot for fine food and sheer enjoyment. The food was a WOW.

Lisbon is one of the very few cities where I thought I've arranged enough time to explore but ended up finding more and more places to be explored. Completely a gem. But sigh we had to bid farewell.

See you again, Lisbon!
