I'm so thankful to have watched The Food Ranger the night before. WAIT! But this is too sinfully good.
Watching food channels has been Billy's and my favourite evening pastime lately. Somehow we find it very comforting and fun as we both truly enjoy good food and the process of scouting around for outstanding eateries.
It was a shame to admit that we did not encounter this warung (a type of small, family-owned business) until we watched a video released by food vlogger, Trevor James via his YouTube channel, The Food Ranger. Yes, imagine the kind of meh that you actually discover somewhere awesome in your own backyard from an offcomer. No complaints though, because we just have to thank him soooooooo much for featuring this in his video, or we will always end up being passers-by of this warung.
Bob & Family operates from a roadside stall just a stone's throw away from blocks of apartments in Kota Damansara. With such unassuming setting, it is easily overlooked if you haven't known this area well. There are only few tables beneath the zinc roofing sheet, and the menu is directly printed on the signboard.
On the display stall, there were tons of fried stuffs: from tauhu keras, kentang (potato cubes) to crunchy cucur. These goodies will go into the dishes they prepare. We were there for mee goreng so we placed order immediately. The friendly owners were friendly enough to allow us into the 'kitchen' section to take a closer look how the dish was prepared.

What seemed like a toil for us was a breeze to the chef. As he added in different ingredients, he spun the wok to allow even heating and stir-fried everything over high heat. The air was filled with aroma from the rapid stir-frying and we were ready to devour the plate of mee goreng! As the final garnishing, they sprinkled on some chopped spring onion, sliced red chilli and a wedge (or a half) of lime.
It did look like a mixture of everything - but in a good way. The noodles were cooked to just the right doneness, with the right amount of chilli sambal. It wasn't spicy at all and we enjoyed the savouriness from the combination of chilli sambal and kicap. Together with other ingredients, like the fried cucur, kentang and egg, we have all goodness on the plate. Another plus point we noticed was the little amount of oil used in this dish. The mee goreng was not soaked in grease (hooray!), even after we'd gobbled down the entire plate of mee goreng, we were delighted to see not much grease left on the empty plate - it was almost dry. I did squeeze some lime juice over the noodles to add a tad of acidity to the dish but it's optional, you can do it without.

I really like this stall. Next time when I am in and around Kota Damansara, I shall know where to head for mee goreng. Tee-hee.
